What is the best free protection from spyware, adware, and betrayware? i keep getting fake security alerts.?
My norton utilities and internet security didn’t catch it and now i constantly get fake alerts and warnings popping up telling me my computer is infected with adware and spyware. I’ve been told this type is called betrayware but I don’t know how to rid my computer of it. Can anybody advise me of free software I can download to coexist with my norton that will wipe out what’s causing this?

But to prevent that from happening again do the following
Make sure your browser and windows is updated by running Microsoft update.
Make sure Java is updated. http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
If either isn’t up to date, websites can install malware on your computer at will, even the best security software might not help.
This is the No 1 or No 2 reason why people get infected. The other is because they are curious and install and click on every junk that appears.
Better yet switch to firefox or opera, they are not necessarily safer, but easier to control.
