Instructional Assistant – Technology?
I just started my new job as IA – Tech at the elementary school where I am student-teaching. I am in charge of the computer lab, and my other duties include “prepare a variety of instructional support materials,” and “prepare and assist in the preparation of a variety of technology-based instructional materials and learning aids.”
My question involves keeping myself busy. So far, I haven’t been given anything to do, other than “help” in the lab when classes are in there. I want to make myself an awesome resource for the teachers. As a teacher, what would YOU want me to do for you?
Some examples:
* Help teachers develop resources like grade sheets, planning templates, etc.
* Create electronic versions of materials from Teacher’s Manuals (for use on SmartBoards.) e.g. worksheets, etc.
* Create PowerPoint presentation templates for lesson plans.
* Create computerized learning activities for the SmartBoards (e.g. quiz-show games, matching activities, etc.)
Does your school have a web site you could update?
How about getting on line and researching best sites or timely info etc to share a list with the teachers as a FYI memo
