laptop memory upgrade dell
Buying a laptop question. Should I buy a midrange labtop ($500) and upgrade it to the fullest capacity?
I am thinking of getting a Dell laptop and upgrading the harddrive memory and ram memory to the max and getting a dvd burner. That is all I need so would this be better than buying a stock $1000 system with these options already set? I don’t need a graphics card or flashy visuals just the 3 options I said earlier. I am thinking of the Inspiron 1501. Anyone here good things of this model. Also my final question. Does it matter what wireless network card you get because this one has a Dell Wireless 1390 802.11g Mini Card (54Mbps). I don’t know what all these numbers mean.
I’d purchase what you need at the beginning. It typically more coste effective than upgrading later on. Most people buy more computer than they really need. If you only browse the web, chat, e-mail, word processing and spreadsheets and even an older Pentium 3 would work fine. As far a wif goes they are pretty much the same. The 802.11 refers to the local area networking standard. The original was a, then b and now g. They have differing ranges that they can receive the signal. Unless you are in huge house or very far away from the wifi source (router, transmitter) the 802.11g should work fine.
