laptop with windows 7 professional

I have Windows Vista Home Premium (upgrade from XP) installed. Can I install a Windows 7 Professional upgrade?
I asked a question similar to this earlier but I wrote it badly and it was confusing so I’ve made it much more simple and am asking it again.
My main issue that I do not own a full version of Vista Home Premium, just the upgrade. So I’m confused as to whether I can get the Windows 7 Professional upgrade, or whether I have to stick with Windows 7 Home edition. I’ve had a look around and can’t get a straight answer. Microsoft are no help at all.
Also if it’s any help I’ve found that my processor can only cope with 32bit. Not sure if it’s relevant or not. Also I have run the Windows upgrade adviser and and my only only problem is the hard drive which I can easily clear and a few Vista updates. Everything else im my laptop can cope with it.
Thanks anyway.
Yes you can upgrade again. That’s the way it works.
