mini notebook with dvd drive
mini laptops, best cheap basic ones?
Hi!
I want to buy a mini laptop for college, but not willing to spend more than about 350euro if possible. Are there any out there?
I just need a basic one, the most important thing to me is that it has the up to date microsoft word! I find that most dell notebooks/computers (vista anyway, not sure about the rest) have microsoft WORKS, so when typing up an essay or anything, it turns out weird on other computers.
Any good suggestions? cheap, looks nice, preferably with cd/DVD drive…but i don’t think any of the small ones have them so that’s not very important.

depending on your preference…have you looked at the MSI wind? It is one of the best netbooks available. Partially because it has a slightly larger keyboard than most. One thing to keep in mind when working with your MS Word and such…laptops/netbooks are going to cost considerably more if you buy them with a MS Office package because of its cost. An alternative to this is to download and use openoffice.org. It maintains 90+% ccompatibility with MS office and works like office 2003, not 2007 so it isn’t ugly. It also won’t install a pile of separate and useless office apps all over the place…everything is fully integrated into a single app.

keep in mind, these don’t come with optical (cd/dvd) drives, but are cheap and well built.
